SOUTHWEST WALLEYE ANGLERS CLUB |
Southwest Walleye Club |
The Southwest Walleye Anglers Club (SWA) is a non-profit organization established by concerned sportsmen to help club members learn more about fishing in our region, become better fisherman, and have fun in the process. If you have only fished for trout or bass before, we want to introduce you to the excitement and challenges of walleye fishing. We are a family oriented organization that provide you with useful information about our desert walleyes, desert lakes, and local fishing techniques. We give you the opportunity to meet other fisherman and to improve your chances of having successful fishing trips.
SWA is dedicated to the advancement of the walleye fishery in Arizona and the future of fishing for our youth. While walleye are our prime interest, we stress a multi-species approach to fishing.
SWA has monthly meetings with a variety of speakers who are experts in their particular skills that can provide members with useful information and specialized techniques for fishing in our desert region.
Monthly fishing outings are coordinated by SWA with emphasis to accommodate those without boats.
SWA has access to AZ Game and Fish who periodically attend meetings as speakers and provide regular information on current affairs affecting fishing.
The SWA monthly newsletter and website keep members apprised of club activities, especially for those living out of state and others unable to attend monthly meetings. You will read about speakers for monthly meetings, plans for outings, kids fishing day, fishing shows seminars, fishing reports, and other club business.
SWA sponsors the following activities:
Desert White Eyes Package – a special opportunity to spend an incredible day of walleye fishing with an experienced Arizona walleye fisherman for $200.00. This includes the cost of a one year membership, an invitation to participate in future club outings and events, and a day on a local lake to gain first hand knowledge on locations and techniques for catching walleye.
Lake Powell Trip – Every spring, the SWA takes a trip to Lake Powell for a week of fishing and camaraderie. Non-boaters are matched with different boaters each day to explore the many fishing opportunities Lake Powell has to offer.
Cabela's National Team Walleye Championship – Each year, the SWA sends ten members to fish in the Cabela's National Team Walleye Championship. This tournament pits the top 250 teams from across the nation to compete for cash, prizes and national recognition.
SWA is a member of the Wildlife Conservation Council. We join with over 30 other fishing, hunting and outdoor clubs to work with AZ Game and Fish and other agencies to improve the outdoor experience in Arizona. As members of SWA, you are invited to attend the monthly meetings. Help support the Wildlife Conservation Council by getting special Arizona license plates for you vehicle. The cost is $25.00 per year in addition to the normal cost. The State gets $8.00 and the Council gets $17.00, which will be used for Council projects (see www.wwrendezvo us.com/wcc1.htm ).
